April is National Poetry Month and as a poet myself, I want to share some poems that I have written in the past few months.
Poetry is something that is personal and impersonal at the same time. Poets are capable of writing about a specific incident in their lives while millions of people are still able to relate to every word that is said.
I have been writing poetry since I was nine years old. It has always been a love of mine. Reading and writing poetry brings me a lot of joy. Not everyone understands it or appreciates it as some, but I hope the writing you read today sparks an interest in poetry or at least holds your attention for as long as you decide to stare at the screen in front of you.
This first poem takes a deeper look at a simple act: bathing.
This next poem examines what it is like to live behind a screen.
This final poem reveals how it can feel to be in love.
These poems are near and dear to my heart. I am the type of writer who wears my heart on my sleeve. I am not ashamed or embarrassed of what I write and the themes I share. I hope the courage I display in my writing will inspire you to take the same courage with you wherever you go.
Once again, Happy National Poetry Month!
